I’ve published a memoir, Portrait of a Feminist, that maps the evolution of my own feminism from childhood through adulthood, in different countries (the United States, Ecuador, the Philippines, Brazil) and different cultures (American, Peruvian, British), and as an academic, daughter, wife, and mother. My goal in writing this book has been to approach similar topics to Mature Allure's with a thoughtfulness and depth that provokes conversation and dialogue.
I experienced a transition-triggered reinvention when I turned 50 and my oldest son left for college. It was then that I was motivated to find a life purpose outside of motherhood. I turned to creative writing and haven’t looked back since. I am reveling in my writing life, and in the fact that it is both my passion and my purpose.
